I recall vague details of New England Indian captives being shipped to the mediterranean coast of North Africa. Apparently there was some difficulty in disposing of the Indians in several Mediterranean ports. The timeline for the appearance of an Indian named "Jack of Morocco" coincides with the possible disposal of some of these Indians on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The Indians involved in the case were "John the bowlmaker" and the aforementioned Jack of Morrocco.

Around 1700 the entire adult population of the Nantaughtacund/Nanzatico tribe was banished to Antigua in the West Indies. The children were parceled out by lots to members of the Governor's Council. I have been able to trace the family of only one of these Nanzatico children. They became predominately educators in the 20th century. Few are left in Virginia today.
