You do well to question Heinegg's work. He assumes a LOT when it comes to 'color'. I do not have on hand the actual records you mentioned. But in the past I have read from microfilm some of the records he mentioned/quoted and I just could not understand how he could come up with his notions, not only for color but also of descent.
