Elizabeth Chavis, Gibson Gibson, Hannah Dennum

Paul Heinegg has authored a post which suggests that Senator Obama's white ancestors are "most likely identical to the Dennum/Denham family of Tennessee." He goes on to refer to "Gibby Gibson ( son of Elizabeth Chavis ) as a famous "very light skinned African American" who "left Hannah Dennam two slaves..." by his 1727 will.

A crital reading of these early Virginia records raises several questions:
1. Is there any record which either identifies or even suggests that Elizabeth Chavis, Gibby Gibson, or Hannah Dennam were African American?

2. Is there any record which suggests that the above were even people of color?

3. If there is any record which suggests that they were indeed people of color, is there any record which suggests that the color came from African rather than Indian or Gypsy ancestors?
