"This baseless aspersion is obviously motivated by your...etc"
How is it that her observation is baseless?
The link to the article that you pasted has little to do with groups like Melungeons and Redbones, as the riots were happening in the cities, not in the isolated rural areas where such groups were found. Of course, it says that in the article, but I don't know if you really read it. The time period the article covers was from a time that many considered the Melungeon "race" to already have been "dying out". There were very few Melungeon-related families labeled "fpc" or "mu" in that time frame.
Historical context would render this article useless to Melungeon research, as most Melungeons had already "passed" by that time, and had married extensively with non-Melungeons in their immediate area.
I dont know about Louisianna, but the only lynching incident that I know of involving a Melungeon (who were considered APART from the blacks, whether for better or worse) was an incident involving a Gibson (I think his name was Burdine Gibson?)who was hung in KY for horse stealing. His race wasnt the reason he was hung, but the story goes that the executioners refused to bury him on account of him being an Indian. Luckily for him he wasnt quite dead and he was able to flee from the ditch they left him in. That story was passed down from the individual in question, so there's no telling whether it's true or not.
Interestingly, there was only one person ever executed in Hancock Co, TN, a non-Melungeon ( a Hatfield actually) who was hung for murder.
Other than the voting trials, and the Chattanooga Boling trial, there doesnt seem to be too much evidence of persecution of Melungeons. That is, unless you consider ALL fpc Melungeons and Redbones, which wasnt the case.
