Vance I don't research and I don't post like that. You have again twisted something that you can not explain.
reply --
Yes you did. You nevr said you were quoting from Guion-Miller applications "rejected rolls". When asked you ignored the question -- and you were asked by several . . .Why didn't you say your one and only source was from the "rejected rolls"? Why didn't you provide the reasons they rejected? You just went foreward claiming the Melungions were Cherokee, knowing your one and only document was from aa source rejected by the known universe.
On your website you have listed the questions asked and the replies of these people saying they are Cherokee, and unless you have changed it, you do NOT have the source (Guion-Miller Application nor application number), and you just have "excerpts" from the application that support yuor view, ignoring themajority of the application. You do NOT provide the Guion-Miller conclusions stating these people were NOT Cherokee and the reasons why they were NOT Cherokee. I recall asking you WHY you didn't include this information and you replied that If I wanted that information out I could put it on my website and you'd put on your website whatever you pleased. Well I don't have a website.

And Elizabeth Gibson Mullins who under oath declared her grandfather spoke only CHEROKEE... you said she made it all up -- just to collect some money.
reply --
I never said that and you know it. I asked you before, please use DIRECT QUOTES when describing what I said because you are so often wrong, claiming I said something I never said.
I am interested in her family as it is another Gibson that came to Indian territory. I think there were many Melungeon and Piedmont Catawba mixed race people who might have come to Oklahoma when it was known as Indian Territory and would like to see more research in this area.

And then after all this Vance has declared them Catawba -- because he 'SUSPECTS' --- and he KNOWS they are not Cherokee....
NO!
reply --
I said "evidence" leads more to Catawba and their allies than Cherokee BECAUSE other researchers say it -- those state recognition records of state recognized tribes in Va and NC imply a possible relationship because they have the same surnames. They also have a tradition of people whose ancestors were called "Portuguese" but in reality were tri-racial. Carlson's dissertation says it -- I say it because others say it who have researched it. And I just say there is evidence for it which goes back generations, to colonial records, where as there is no evidence of a Cherokee ancestor of these families.
I say they were not Cherokee because researchers whose job it was to determine who was and who wasn't Cherokee said NO a hundred years ago! And most of these families appealed the first finding so they had 2 chances to find a connection to the Cherokee, and they couldn't.
They still haven't found a connection, and now they have had 100 years to try and find one. How much more timeis required?
