Thank you, Joanne.Those are great examples of the "thoughts of the day" at the time.
I think that in the current and recent times, too many so-called researchers try to apply today's biases, PC attitudes, and current political junk to what actually existed and occurred in the past.All of that just muddies the water even more.
Terminology used to describe various people in the Americas as long as 400 years ago was not considered to be racist, derogatory or denigrating; those terms were just in common usage.In today's PC world, every so-called "ethnic" group's representative 'union' might be marching in protest or having the ACLU file suits over the use of such terms.
History is history, and terminology used in the old days should not be subject to revision, as many facts have now been done in the history books used in our educational systems.
