Well, Cheryl, it turns out your grandfather's parents were named Joseph Marion Melugin and Mary Jane Browder. They married in Fannin County, Texas, 20 May 1877.
Joseph's father was Rice G. Melugin, who apparently married a woman named Mary. She was probably a second wife and probably the mother of Joseph. Someone else might have more (and more precise)information on this.
Rice G. Melugin was the son of James Melugin who married Sally Connelly 24 January 1804 in Davidson County, TN.
James Melugin was the 3rd son of John Melugin (1754-1835). James was born ca. 1776 in Guilford County, NC.
