My gg-grandfather was Heinreich Ferdinand Melzer. I believe that he emigrated from Germany to America about 1863. He's known to have lived in Madison Co, IL as well as a number of other southern Illinois counties including Jackson, Montgomery, Union, and Effingham. He was also in St. Louis, MO and Cape Girardeau, MO. He eventually settled in Effingham, Effingham Co, IL about 1899 where he lived until his death in 1930.

I don't have any info on siblings or parents. My genealogy home page's URL is:

My MELZER family history page's URL is:

My family believed that Heinreich Ferdinand Melzer may have had a brother who was on the staff of Kaiser Wilhem. I have not investigated this.

Let me know if there's any possible connection.
