I live in Black Mountain, NC. Hampton Melton and family lived here and in Rutherford County, NC.

I have Meltons in my genealogy. My great-grandmother was Arrie Zana Melton and she was from Rutherford County. A woman I work with also has Meltons in her family so we have researched to see if we were kin to each other. We couldn't find our link but she is kin to Hampton Melton. He was her great or gg-grandfather. I asked her this morning if she had Hemphills in her line and she does but can't remember the details without looking them up.
