Hi - I am trying to find out more information on a E.B. Melson in Sussex County DE who served as a surfman in the U.S. Life-Saving Service (pre-cursor to the U. S. Coast Guard) at Indian River Life-Saving Station just south of Rehoboth Beach DE from approximately 1887-1899. That sure fits in with your Millville/Clarksville connections as many of the surfmen here lived over in that area.
I am trying to find any more info about him - especially living relatives in the area and/or a date/place of burial. I have daily beach patrol logs covering his work, reports from shipwrecks he responded to, etc. here at the museum. My contact info is below:
