Kate, Genforum failed to send me a notice that you had replied to me on your Mellody ancestors.

I doubt that there is a connection with the Mellody family I am researching. The first to arrive in North America was Michael Malady/Melady. He came before 1840 to St John, St John Co, New Brunswick, Canada. Two of his sons moved to the USA: John had a hosiery company in NY and John moved to Charlestown (Boston), MA. His other two sons remained in St John. One dght, Ann, married and stayed in NB.

Supposedly, this Melody family came from County Clare, Ireland.
