JESUINO C. MELLO

PROVIDENCE -- Jesuino C. "Joe" MELLO, 78, of Jackson Schoolhouse Road, Pascoag, formerly of Colonial Avenue, Tiverton, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Mary (MIRANDA) MELLO.

Born in New Bedford, Mass., the son of the late Manuel C. and Mary (Cabral-Medeiros) MELLO, he resided in Pascoag for most of his life.

Mr. MELLO was employed for many years as a maintenance and refrigerator specialist at Dr. U.E. Zambarano Memorial Hospital in Wallum Lake, retiring in 1986 after serving five years as superintendent of maintenance. After retiring, he worked part-time for several years as a parts distributor at Auto Gauge.

He was an expert wood craftsman, an avid reader and a musician. He was a guitar teacher for many years at Ray Mullin's Studios in Pawtucket and also taught guitar from his home. He was a former member of Ocean State Chorus, Lincoln Chapter, and a former commentator at St. Joseph's Church in Pascoag.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, Lawrence MELLO of Richmond and David J. MELLO of Pascoag; two daughters, Diane BELL and Theresa LAPRISE, both of Pascoag; two brothers, Manuel C. MELLO Jr. and John C. MELLO, both of Tiverton; a sister Beatrice FERREIRA of Tiverton; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary MELLO and Agnes MUNROE.

His funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 S. Main St., Fall River, Mass., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, Judson Street, Tiverton. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Stafford Road, Fall River
