David etal,
According to work done in 1928 by M.A. Gruber of Wash.DC, and found in the Berks County Historical Soc., in the records of the Trinity Tulpehocken Reformed Church, it is written that the Adam Mell m. Maria Barbara Fellebaum(Fellenbaum) on Oct 16, 1770. Gruber states " This Adam Mell is no doubt a son of John Melchior Mell and Wf. Elizabeth of Heidelberg Twp. Berks Co.The children of Adam and Elizabeth, baptized at Hains Church in Berks Co., were William, bapt. Nov. 8, 1772; John Adam, bapt. Jan 2,1774; Philip, bapt. May 14, 1775(died young); Elizabeth, bapt. Mar. 28, 1779; Philip, b. dec 31, 1782, bapt. Feb 23, 1783."
Adam Mell appears in tax records up to 1783, then must have left Berks Co. An Adam Mell is listed in Hopewell Twp, Cumberland Co. in the 1790 census with number of children matching the above.
I believe my ggg grandfather Adam Mell, b. 1797, who lived in Perry Co., was a descendant of this Adam Mell, either another son of his, or a grandson. Have not been able to make the connection so far.
Also, there must be a connection to the Jacob Mell familywho lived near Mt. Rock ,and John Mell of Carlisle, also in Cumberland Co.
I believe some of the Ritners are also buried at Mt. Rock.
