Thanks for the obit that you sent me. I forgot to ask what is your relationship?
I wonder if your LaRue Melick may have been a descendant of Mary LaRue, who married Madison Melick in 1876 in Licking Co OH? See LDS Ancestral File 1X6L-LG2 for Madison and Mary, and see GenForum/Melick msg #243 for another of their descendants. See also msg #9 for directions to a more complete Melick genealogy.
An interesting twist here is that Mary LaRue's grandfather, Cornelius LaRue, married second my 3g-grandmother, Mrs Elizabeth Ward, in 1835 in Knox Co OH. Elizabeth Bebout and John Ward were married in Washington Co PA before 1821, which is when the family moved to Licking Co OH. (although I'm not descended from the OH Melicks, I did have three different lines come thru Licking and Knox counties, OH).
I've corresponded with Jonathan Melick, who is searching his records to see if he can confirm your connection.
