I have been told by an Irish friend who comes from County Sligo that when the name Malia or Melia appears out of Ireland it is usually instead of O'Malley.

A lot of people disregarded the O' part and Malley or Mallie became Malia or Melia.

I am looking for a Melia family - Irish - but I have no county.

Good Hunting.
