I am the grandson of Andres Melendez and Helena Maldonado (from Utuado) was tracing our surname and found that our real surneme is "Melhender" originally from England and France. When granddad father arived in Puerto Rico the "closest"to his surname was Melendez, that explains why we are not related to other Melendez. If you are from the Melendez family from Barceloneta Please let me know.
