I found the John Malchi census records in MD and agree that the 1810, 1820, and 1830 censuses show him having two daughters born 1794-1800, two sons born 1804-1810 (one being Edward), one son born 1810-1820 (James), one daughter born 1810-1815, and one son born 1816-1820 (Abraham). I understand you all believe that the oldest son was John B. - where do you find his information? Was the last name spelled differently in a census? Edward is in PA in 1850, 1860, and 1870. James is in OH in 1850, 1860, and 1870. Abraham is in OH in 1850 and 1870, but I couldn't find any records for John Jr. or any other records for John Sr. after 1830. And where is everyone in 1840? I came across a James Malki in the 1840 census, but I was in a hurry and didn't see his family entry. Has anyone checked military records to see if they were all in the service at that time? A war would explain the death of John Jr. and Sr. Also, could Brownfeldts/Fraunfeldts wife be one of John Sr.s older daughters possibly taking care of her dead brother's children (Jacob, Sophia, and Henry)? I also thought that John Sr. could be Jacob's father, but not too many 65 year olds have babies -even back then.
