New Melchi Researcher. Hi everyone, I have Van Wert Co, Ohio and Gladwin Co, Mich. in my history as well. I was searching this site looking for info and maybe I have a little bit I can offer to help answer some of your questions. I have a Great Grandma, Mary Frances Melchi, who married Hannibal Fremont Bushong. Hannibal lived in Van Wert Co. Ohio but later moved to Gladwin Co, Mich. Hannibal born Mar 30, 1863 Ohio and died May 24th 1932 in Gladwin Co, Mich. His wife tho, Mary Frances, I have little on. A date of birth as March 30, ????. which may be an error as it's the same date as her husband!! Death 1942 Lima Ohio. My father did this research back in the early 1970's looking through Ohio Court House records by hand, and has listed her parents as Harvey Milton Melchi and Laura A. Cobb. I haven't verified this, but I did find Harvey Milton Melchi's death certificate in Midland Co, Mich and his father is listed as Milton Melchi. Harvey is born Oct 11, 1878 in Van Wert Co, Ohio and died Sept 26, 1955 in Midland Co, Mich. If this certificate can help anybody I will gladly email it to you. Milton Melchi married a Rachel Denman. That's all I know of him.
I was recently poking around a Midland Co cemetery and saw a Melchi gravestone which I photographed. It was for Norman and Cecil Melchi and was in the Homer Twp. Cemetery located on Prarie Road near Homer Road, Midland, Michigan. I can send a scan of that to anyone interested, but I don't know who they are or where they fit in.
Sometime ago I was in contact with a lady named Donna Hammond who was related to Laura Cobb, but last time I tried writing her my mail bounced back. I don't know how to contact her, perhaps a Hammond message board which I haven't tried.
Please write...Bonita
