I may just confuse the issue more, but I have information from a history of St. John's Lutheran Church in South Euclid, OH (eastern suburbs of Cleveland. About 1845 three brothers, Ernst Friedrich Melcher, Gerhard Friedrich Melcher, Sr. and Friedrich Melcher settled in this area. There were apparently other relatives nearby as the book contains a photo of these three plus Joseph, Adolph, Heinrich and Elsibine (female)Melcher. Unfortunately no wives are mentioned, but records are probably available at the church.
No Orlousky's or Nickels are mentioned in the book. There is no mention of William Melcher either.
By 1860 the church rolls mention Gerhard and his son Gerhard, Jr, Ernst and Gerhard Heinrich Melcher. It is doubtful that Ernst's line produced any descendants as the book mentions that his four yuong children died odf diptheria in 1861.
This book also contians some class photos from the church school beginning in 1889 with several Melchers in each. Unfortunately, no Louisa. There is a Clara Melcher in one early 1990's photo.
I am searching for my GG Grandmother, Marie Melcher, who I believe came from this area, but there is no reference to her here. I would be glad to supply additional info if anyone is interested.
