Karen, I am not sure if this will help you but you never know. My gr. gr. grandmother was Barbara Charlotte Meissner born in Erfurt in 1827-9. Her mother was Johanna Leitzmann. Her father Philip Meissner. The spelling of the last name is interchangeable with 1 or 2 s. My gr. gr. grandfather Karl August Hartmann was from Burg Bei Magdeburg in Saxon -Anhalt. They came to waterloo , ont. Can in 1854, then to Michigan in 1860. She had a sister who also came to Canada. Elizabeth Meissner Spaetzel. The Spaetzels and Johanna Leitzmann Meissner are buried in Mannheim , Ont. just outside of waterloo. There was a Saxony colony of Germans that settled in Delaware township in Huron or sanilac county on Lake huron. Among them were several Meissners. I can not tell you if the Meissners had more siblings. They did attend the St. Andreas Lutheran Church in Erfurt. They do have records of that and other Meissner families, I got some info from a professional genealogist. If I can help let me know. John Hartman
