Jerry,
Thanks for the message.I received your previous email (circa October) and found it very interesting.
I'll be visiting my parents this Christmas and look forward to sharing your info with them.(Phil and
Marty Meinert, I believe you've corresponded with my father at some point)You have really helped
clear up one thing I've always wondered about - Bernard Alberts father's name.My grandfather (Aloysius
Joseph Meinert) had mentioned that in some correspondence Bernard reffered to his last name as
Hessling and I've never known why.You say that Heinrich Hessling was "called Meinert".Do you
know, did Heinrich change his name at some point or was he always known as Meinert.Do you
know why/when he came to be known as Meinert? This farm or 'hof' you mention, did it belong to
Heinrich or was there some other relationship to it?
Thanks again for all of the interesting info. You have really served to satisfy much of my curiosity (and
generate some new questions as well). It is really very satisfying to learn this new information about
my great grandfather.Perhaps one of these days I'll get a chance to visit Germany and explore some
of these things myself.
Cheers and have a great holiday season,
Tim Meinert
