Hello,
I am also a Meiners from the Covington/ Mandeville, LA area North of New Orleans. Our family came to Galveston, Texas from Bremen, Germany. After the 1900 Galveston Flood, some of the Meiners family moved to Louisiana, leaving behind 2 other brothers, this is what I've been told. I know we are descendants of Anton H. Meiners.I really do not know any of the other Meiners in this area, due to a split in the family ( my grandfather/grandmother divorced) Charles "Chick" Joseph Meiners Jr. was my Grandfather.I did know some of the older Meiners family, but most of them are now passed. My Greatgrandfather was Charles Jospeph Meiners born in 1895 in Texas Died in 1974 in Mandeville, LA.I work overseas alot, and recently met a German in Iraq, whose father researches ancestory for complete villages, he has agreed to help me, with my Meiners "Germany Side". I need to find any more info including the names of the siblings left behind in Texas, so he knows which is the correct group of Meiners to look up in Germany. There are several villages between and around Bremen to Hanover area, where Meiners families live:Meinershausen, Meinershagen, Meinersborg, and the list goes on, most of them are surrounding Bremen.I have also come across several Heinrich H. Meiners one of which I am supposed to be related to. Any help would be appreciated.
