Jean - I too, have heard of the Milwaukee Meineckes. My mother tells me that her mother Ida (Sonnenberg-Vetter), cousin Elizabeth (Bollman - Steinbach) and Tante Lise (Sonnenberg - Bollman) used to go visit them in the 1930's. My grandmother and great-great aunt lived in Kenosha at the time. My great-great grandmother was Auguste Meinecke - Sonnenberg. She was born in Germany (either Saxony region or Nemersdorf, where my great grandmother Helene was born and is currently a part of Russia - it was German held territory at the time) and died in Kettwig an der Ruhr, near Essen, Germany.

I don't know how the Milwaukee Meineckes fit in, but I'm working on it. If I hear anything new, I'll post it.

Good luck!

Heidi
