My grandmother, Dorothy Marion Isobel Meikle, was born into a Catholic family on June 30, 1921, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Her ancestors were from Scotland (Meiklejohn). She has many siblings, including Edith, Geraldine and Elliot. Dorothy's only daughter, Renette Valda (b.Sept 16,1956, Meadow Lake, Sask), was fathered out of wedlock by Ken Boucher of Boston, USA. Dorothy m. Reginald Robert Turner (d.April, 1975) in Edmonton, AB in 1960/61, at which point he legally adopted Renette. Renette m. Garth Edward Peevey (b.May 20,1954, Edmonton, AB) July 1974. Renette and Garth had 3 children, Michelle Andrea (b.Oct 16, 1976, Coronation, AB), Clinton Albert (b.May 4, 1978, Castor, AB), and Cari-Lynn Amber (b.June 21, 1980, Innisfail, AB).

Ken Boucher was Catholic, separated from his wife, already had one son, Bernard, was of at least partial Spanish/Portuguese descent, and was reportedly a cousin to the singer Trini Lopez. He was a chef, possibly for the military. He named Renette after relatives - "Valda" was after his aunt, I am unsure about the origin of "Renette".

Anyone interested in this line, or with any info on Ken Boucher, please contact me either via genforum or at Chelle-Anne@webtv.net.

Thank-you,
Michelle Peevey.
