Hi Dan,
I have a few Daniel Meikles in my family starting with Daniel Meikle married Geils Couper in 1860 in Maryhill, Glasgow. They had 3 sons Daniel 1860, William 1864,& Charles 1867. Of those sons, William married Mary Gow in 1888 and they had at least 4 children Daniel Gilchrist Meikle 1889, Walter Gow Meikle 1891, Mary Cooper Meikle 1895& William Rodger Meikle 1901 all born Glasgow. William senior passed throuth Ellis Island in 1923 with William junior to join Daniel Gilchrist Meikle who was already in Illinois, and I have found Daniel Gilchrist Meikle & Wiiliam Rodger Meikle in the 1930 Illinois census.
