Dear Dan, my gggrandfather George Muckle came to Australia in 1821. He says he was 28.He came to work with his uncle John Dickson who was a wealthy engineer who brought the first steam engine to Australia. George considered himself a "gentleman". John Dickson was originally from Scotland so I have always assumed that George was too. He married in a presbyterian church out here and his wife was presbyterian, church of Scotland. He named his only son William so I imagine this was his father's name. His daughter was Lilla. My guess is that his parents were William Muckle and Lilias Dickson who had a child William 20 April 1796 at Lasswade, Midlothian. I got this from the IGI. Any connection?
