Hi! Just confirming that Meikle relates to the Lamont clan but that the correct pronunciation in Scotland is LAMuN T (as though you were saying Salmon and adding a final letter T ). This is derived from the word LAWMAN. I am just beginning my interest in family history and know almost nothing about it. I don't yet know how to access British records. I (Henry James Meikle) was born in Liverpool on Feb 1 1931 . My father , George Alexander Meikle was born in Liverpool on August 20th 1901. His father , Alexander Meikle was born in Glasgow and, I understand lived in the Mary Hill district. He came to Liverpool and married there -dates as yet unknown.
