My ancestor, William Henry Hunt, was born September 13, 1782 in New Haven, Connecticut. In the early 1800s, he left Connecticut to go to Athens, Georgia, to become the Steward at the new University of Georgia (Franklin College). Even though we have no proof, he obviously was acquainted with Josiah Meigs. He served as steward until 1813. William and his wife Nancy named one of their children Josiah Meigs Hunt. Does anyone know of a connection between this family and the Meigs' family?
