Recompense was of East Guilford, Conn. and was the son of Deacon John 3rd, of East Guilford. Recompense was born 1701 and died 1760. He married Phoebe Goodale, of Bridgehampton, N. Y. on May 3m 1727. Phoebe died on Dec. 26, 1771. Their children are as follows: Sylvanus born Feb. 13, 1728 died April 15, 1753.
Phoebe born Feb. 1, 1730. Married Aaron Grave of Walpole, N.H. on Sept. 27, 1750.
Nathan born Nov. 5, 1732.
Elias born April 15, 1735.
Abigail born March 12, 1738. Married Hull Crampton of Guilford, Conn. on April 13, 1757.
Deacon John Meigs 3rd of East Guilford was born Nov. 11,1670, died Dec. 19, 1718. Married on July 20, 1694 to Rebecca Hand.
Children are as follows:
John 4th born on July 10, 1697 died on Nov. 4, 1767
Stephen born on Oct. 10, 1699 and died on May 31, 1759
Recompense
Irene born March 10, 1704
Samuel born on Aug. 22, 1706 died on Sept. 1, 1751
Phineas born Sept. 21, 1708 died on March 19, 1782
Sarah born Dec. 10, 1713 died on Feb. 6, 1796. Married Benjamin Pratt of Saybrook on Dec. 7, 1734.
Deacon John 3rd was son of Deacon John, who was the son of John Meigs, whose father was Vincent.
This info comes from a book written by Henry B. Meigs in 1901. Has some date issues and spelling. But it is a good refernce as far as I am concerned. Espically for the fact they had no internet to help them research.
