Joshua Meggs, 1826, John T. Meggs, 1776, James Meggs, 1754

My name is Kale Meggs. I have traced my roots back to Joshua Meggs, born in 1826 within Anson County, North Carolina. From there I hit a brick wall.
In 1776, John T. Meggs did move from Virginia to Anson County, North Carolina. After fighting in the Revolutionary War he fathered some children who all spelled their names "Meigs". I don't know why the sudden change in name spelling after the war, but it's there. However, none of John T. Meggs' children are named Joshua, and even if they were, it would be spelled "Meigs", not "Meggs". The "Meigs" lineage did remain within that county during Joshua's lifetime.
I have also found another Meggs in Virginia. In 1754, six years before the birth of John T. Meggs in Virginia, a James Meggs served under then 22 year old Colonel George Washington during the French and Indian War. James Meggs was on the roster of the Virginia Regiment at Fort Necessity.
If anyone has any information linking John T. Meggs to Joshua Meggs, or any info on the siblings or parents of either Joshua Meggs or John T.Meggs, or the children or siblings of James Meggs of Fort Necessity, Virginia, please email me at blindshark@webtv.net. I'm particulary interested in linking Joshua to John T. somehow, as I feel it's a pretty big coincidence that they resided so closely.
Leaving out siblings and the other hundreds of relatives, if this helps anyone, here is my direct and confirmed lineage. Joshua Meggs was born 1826 in Anson County, NC. He had James Isaac Meggs in 1849, who had James Washington Meggs in 1886, who had William Connie Meggs in 1913, who had Billy Joe Meggs in 1945, who had Kale Meggs, myself, in 1965. The majority of the family resides in Tennessee and Illinois to my knowledge today.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
