Hi Pat, my father had contact to a relative in Germany many years ago who believe the name 'Petering' came from a house. A man would marry the daughter of the house and take their name but I am trying to work out how or what the connection from the different meyer/meiers is.

I have a connection to a Petering in the USA who's family goes back to a Petering married to a BrandMEYER - so I gather the Brandmeyer may be part of the meyer/meier family.

thanks for responding, Lee
