My mom recently passed away and I found a couple things in her belongings:
- My great-grandmothers obituary:

She lived in Middletown about 30 years.
She was born in Little Ferry, NY on Oct 1, 1882, dauther of Nicholas and Lucinda Dick Mehrhof. She was married to Oscar Higbie, who died in 1943.
She is survived by a son, Charles (Margaret) of Middletown, two daughters; Mrs. Edith (CHarles) Wright of Ramsey, NJ and Mrs. Arlene (William) Malley, of Montgomery, NY; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; a sister Miss Alva Mehrhof of Paramus, NJ, several nieces and nephers.
Internment will be in Wallkill Cemetary (in Town of Wallkill/Middletown, NY)
-- I also found a letter dated 10/20/63 sent to my grandmother ((Ruth) Arlene Higbie Malley) from her cousin? Mrs. RC Bigford from Oshkosh, WI:
In this letter she expressed her sympathy for the passing of Armenia's death as well as the untimely passing of Charles (Edith and R.Arlene's brother - Armenia's son) who died young. In this letter she mentions "Poor dear Alva is the only one of that generation left. I am so sorry for her. I've kept busy writing to our family of four- but I hope I will hear from you or Edith occasionally - for you and Nellie Berkhart are all I have left of my father's family. Love to you all... Grace B.
I don't know who Grace Bigford belonged to, nor do I know who Nellie Berkhart belonged to.
