Looking of info. on Claus Mehrens, his parents, and/or siblings. He was born in 1847 in Holstein, Germany; was married to a woman named Catherine who bore him 4 children before her death in 1881 in Tama Co., IA. Claus and Catherine came to the US around 1880. The four children were named Heinrich Claus, Emma, Gustave H., and Agnus. Claus remarried in 1882 to Matilda Schmidt who bore him three children; John, Albert, and Elmer (my great-grandfather). Claus, Matilda, and all but the oldest girl (?) settled in O'Brien Co., IA in 1894.
