ABRAHAM MEHEW - TINKERS
Posted by: Andrea Wilson (nee (ID *****8989) Date: September 30, 2006 at 19:35:13

My father was told as a child by an aunt, that his Mehew Line had been Tinkers once. They were a little like gypsies fixing farm machinery and selling items like pots and pans. They later became blacksmiths and Pipefitters.

They seem to be based in Spaldwick (births registered there). Recently, another Mehew decendent verified this as well. Our common ancestor may be Abraham Mehew b. abt 1803/1804 and who was married to Mary Maile.

Does anyone know about this and may have more information.

thanks/andrea
