Helen, My Swaim family ancestors were in Burlington County, NJ but we have not connected them to Thomas. We suspect there is a relationship as Thomas went to Burlington County from Connellsville and lived in close proximity. Letters from someone who did research in 1916 indicates there was a bible record indicating that Thomas' father was a Mathias and that Thomas was taken to Connellsville at age 5 (1789) by his mother Sarah after the death of her husband. He was baptized by Rev. Wm Parkinson there in 1799. He went to Pemberton, NJ in 1805. The researcher also states that he had a sister who married Dr. Estep of Library, Pa. Mathias is a name found in all Swaim lines. As William Mefford migrated to Connellsville from Burlington County in 1795 it appears that Sarah may have been there first. Confusing! The Baptist Encyclopedia indicates that Thomas was born Dec 22, 1783 near Piscatawy, NJ.(as is supposed). Notify Administrator about this message?
