From various tidbits of information gleaned on the net, I have constructed the following family for Alonzo Meeks, born circa 1858 in Hardin County, Iowa to Barton and Mary (Sharer?) Meeks. I believe Alonzo married the widow Sarena (Stout) Millslagle in Hardin County. 1. BARTON2 MEEKS (son of an unknown MEEKS [born before 1808] and possibly a Miss Johnson, daughter of Barton Johnson of Virginia, Ohio, Illinois and finally Hardin County, Iowa1) was born Abt. 1828 in Ohio, and died Bet. 1866 - 1869 in Hardin County, Iowa. He married MARY UNKNOWN (SHARER??) Abt. 1853 in Iowa. She was born Abt. February 1835 in Ohio (date per 1900 federal census), to parents both born in Germany, and died Aft. 1900 in Hardin County, Iowa.

Census 3: 1900, Eldora Township, Hardin County, Iowa; in the household of her widowered son, Alonzo

2. ALONZO3 MEEKS (BARTON2, MEEKS1) was born Abt. June 1858 in Iowa, and died Bet. 1901 - 1930. He married SARENA A. STOUT Abt. December 1880 in Hardin County, Iowa, daughter of FRANKLIN STOUT and JULIA EWING. She was born January 18, 1844 in Fountain County, Indiana, and died January 12, 1899. She had first married Thomas Millslagle, son of Samuel and Julia (Ackley) Millslagle, and had at least a daughter Maud, b. 1778-1779; Sarena and Thomas might have had an older daughter, Ida, b. ca. 1867, and it seems likely they would have had others as well, but I have not found them (yet).
