I just got my son, David Meeker, to swab his cheek for the Meeker DNA study today. My 10 years of research indicate that he is a descendant of the Robert Meeker who was found in the Fairfield, Connecticut records as early as 1640.
I wish other male descendants of those Meekers who lived in Redding, Connecticut for several generations would also contribute to the study. The Mark Twain library in Redding Connecticut has lots of information about those Meekers, there's a Meeker Dam and a Meeker Hill Road in Redding and the Redding cemeteries have loads of Meekers buried there. See a lot that have been posted on Findagrave.com.But they all moved away from Redding- mostly going west from there - not a single Meeker living in Redding now. There are several beautiful old historic homesstill recognized as originally built by Meekers in Redding.
