OBITUARY:
Larned - Alice M. Berglund, 83, died Dec. 12, 2001, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, Larned. She was born March 1, 1918, in Pawnee County, the daughter of John E. and Emma J. Strader Meeker. A lifetime Larned resident, she was a housewife and homemaker. She belonged to United Methodist Church, Larned. She married Leonard H. Berglund. He died Aug. 16, 1978. Survivors include: four sisters, Florence Barton, Claremore, Okla., Clara Porter, Lafayette, Calif., Betty Balke, Rockford, Ill., and Dorothy Merritt, Marysville, Calif.; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Quimby; a son, LeRoy Berglund; a brother, Frank Meeker; and four sisters, Margaret Delp, Mary Bell Sprinter, Mildred Todd and Neva Keller. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Charles Grant presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday and until service time Saturday, all at the mortuary. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Larned EMS, in care of the mortuary.

I didn't really know Aunt Alice all that well. She married the brother of my grandmother HENRIETTA ELEANOR (BERGLUND) ZINK.
