Sarah Hannah (b. 25 Jun 1828, Pensacola FL), the daughter of my g-g-g grandfather, married George Washington Meeker (b. 1819 in Essex County, NJ) on 5 Apr, 1845 in Santa Rosa County, FL. They had 6 children, Maria (b.1846), Matthew, (b. 1848), Angeline (b.1851), Samuel (b.1853), George (b. 1855), and Thomas (b.1861). They moved from FL to Galveston, TX about 1860. George Washington Meeker disappeared from his family forever during the Civil War.
Recently we have found a George W. Meeker listed with wife Ellen Meeker and several children in Newark, Essex County, NJ in the 1870 and 1880 censuses. Children's names in the 1870 census:
Henry(b.1850), Mary,(1853), Stephen (1857),Charles (1859), William (1865), George (1868).
In the 1880 census of Newark the same children appeared except for the eldest, Mary.
Please contact me if you have any information about either of these George W. Meekers. I have much information to share on the Hannah family. Thank you.
