Hi Irene...how nice to hear from you, and that you have some familiarity with the Kilday name.I do not know just where my Ggreat-grandmother Rose was born, just that it was in Ireland. The older members of our family only knew that my granmother Margaret came to the U.S. with her mother, Ann from Glasgow or Edinburgh ca. 1880. Unfortunately, all that history is lost and I don't know if I will ever be able to retrieve it but I will keep trying as long as there is hope.
I lived In Denham Village, Buckinghamshire which is near Uxbridge from 1956 until 1960.In fact my daughter was born there. That makes it even more eventful to hear from you since you live in England.I am so sorry I never thought about looking up any records while I was there, of course at that time genealogy was not heard of by most of us, and I had three little children to look after and proably didn't have the time.
I love your country, we had a wonderful experience living there. Our best friends were the people we rented from who also lived in the same house.I learned Whist and Bridge while I was there and when we left I felt as if I was leaving home.We went back two years ago, the village is populated with the well to do now, at the time we were there most of the people were working class.
I will let you know if I am lucky enough to find out any more information.Have a nice holiday, I hope it is not too cold there. We live in Ohio, and usually have a lot of snow, but so far so good.Best regards, Mary
