Our Mees came from Ireland in 1840 (either Limerick or Cork) and worked on the Erie Canal in Palmyra, NY. My dad William Henry Mee, Sr. of Brooklyn, NY, born 1920 mentioned something about Fulton County and Niagara so I have posted to the people who listed those as where their Mees came from.

Your story of Roscommon is interesting, is that a port they could have all left from?

His dad James John Mee was a postman in New York City and by buying a five year subscription to the New York Times get lots in Beachwood, New Jersey. My Cousin Johnny Went to North Carolina State University and then settled in Virginia---funny how we keep being around each other but not really meet as families.

When I check my dad's WWII records William J. Mee comes up from NY City. Born 1929 ALSO!!!!

During WWII my dad was stationed in England and went to Ireland on a pass---couldn’t get genealogy done---but many Mees were actually in England.

I am currently in Santa Fe, NM, where William Robert Mee and his son and grandson of the same name live. He is from Illinois--my dad and he could trace no common ancestor. My son is William H. Mee III---so at one point we had 6 William Mees in town!!!!

We have a Stephen Mee now but he says his name was originally Meese.
