Good Morning Joe,
Thank you so much for your responses.
My g. grandparents David and Emma Reed Medlock, as noted, lived in Johnston, SC in 1900, which is in Edgefield County, and part of Ward Township. The townships of Ward and Shaw is where all my Medlock family originated. My grandfather Charles was born in Johnston in 1896.He married my grandmother Edna; they had two children, my mother Victoria, 1921-1998, and Charles jr., 1925-1983, who were born in Graniteville, SC ( Aiken County). In 1870, my gr. grandfather David was enumerated in the household of Benjamin and Adeline Miles as David Medloe.Accounting to his daughter, my great aunt Minnie Medlock Griffin ( 1898-1996), David's siblings were Peter, Adeline, Martha and Dan.But in 1870 they were not living with their parents and were scattered among relatives. The David Medlock who was born in 1824 along with his twin John, were the first known children of Margaret Medlock in Georgia. When she was bought to SC is unknown; but this David Medlock was sold to a Logan Stroud in 1846 and was moved to Limestone County Texas. It is known that he had three wifes in this lifetime.I've been in touch with another Black American Medlock who lives in Texas and gave me this history.
Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Edna Bush
