ALFRED, possibly ALFORD, MEDLIN b 1804 NC
I need to connect with anyone who knows this man.
ALFRED MEDLIN wed a lady who went by HICKSEY/HIXEY.They married in the 1820s and began a large family. They lived in WAKE most of their marriage though there was a short time they lived in lower Regiment of Chatham around 1850 census.
The family owned land somewhere along Hillsborough Road in Raleigh. The land passed from Hixey to her daughter Esther/Easter Medlin Smith in 1876.Of note, the land deed also mentioned the last name CHEVES. I believe that was the name of a minister who had some sort of relationship/association with either Bartlett or Brinkley Medlin.
Daughter Emma Ann Medlin wed Bartlett Yancey Underwood in Wake in 1854.Kader Medlin was BONDSMAN.
I am hoping someone can help me figure out where Alford/Alfred fits in the Wake County Medlins! How are Alfred, Hixey, and Kader related?
OF FINAL NOTE- our line has participated in familytreeDNA's surname project (Underwood) AND gone the extra mile to use autosomal dna to help us confirm our line. It would be most helpful for Medlins of Wake to participate! I wonder if anyone out there knows the progress of the Medlins surname project?I would encourage folks to do the 37 Y test AND the autosomal test if their ancestors were early NC residents (prior to 1800).The DNA will help us create bridges where records are missing.
Thanks for reading.Look forward to hearing from Wake MEDLIN experts!
