Murder of Manuel Cordova in Huerfano Co.

Several years ago an elderly Aunt told me a story involving her Great Uncle, Manuel Cordova. She told me he was killed by a man who came from Mexico and was working for Manuel's brother, Juan de la Cruz Cordova. The Cordovas lived in Cucharas and Juan de la Cruz had several head of sheep at the time. Manuel Cordova was killed with an axe and a young boy was subsequently kidnapped by this individual and, apparently, taken back to Mexico. Manuel Cordova was also the brother of Jesus Maria Cordova. The boy kidnapped was the son of Jose Leon and Maria Rita Medina. The boy would later return to Colorado as an adult. The church records from St Mary's reflects Juan Manuel Cordova married Maria Candelaria Mestas in 1879. I believe he was killed prior to 1881. I have been looking for several years, but unable to locate any information on this murder. I would appreciate if anyone has run across any reference to this incident during their research. Thank you
