Thanks for the help. I have many of these but there are a few I didn't have. The information about John Gyan of "Munchenhampton" is very helpful, I have a William and Richard Gyan who were there from at least the 1450's - 1480's both were rectors of the church there. William went on to become a "canon of the Cathedral Church of Sarum" and named Master Richard Gyan of "Mynchynhampton" as his heir in his will in 1493. But I haven't been able to find much on them besides that. I know the spelling Jenys/Genys became Jeanes (or Geanes) but I have not found anything that proves or suggests Gyen/Gyan was an earlier spelling except the one I referenced in the first post Gyensmersh/Geanesmersh. As far as I can tell the name Gyan/Gyen disappeared in Somerset about the time I begin finding the Jenys/Genys or Jenes/Jeanes spelling. I have found a few Genys/Jenys records for the 1300's but none that I can connect to a Gyen/Gyan record. Thanks again, Renee Notify Administrator about this message?
