Thanks for the information. I never knew that Vawter and Valletort were similar. What I think may be somewhat correct is that William (d. abt. 1429) and Margaret (prob. Valletort) Talbot, who had Spreyton, co. Devon had a child named Elizabeth Talbot who m. Thomas Kelly, of Kelly, co. Devon. Margaret's father and mother were John and Margaret (prob. Cockington--dau. of Roger de Cockington) Valletort. John Valletort's father was John Valletort, who. fl. 1346 and held Georgeham. John Valletort's father was John Valletort, who fl. 1284-1316 imp. 1318 m. Joan, dau. of Mauger St. Aubyn, who held the manor of Pickwell and d. 1294. John Valletort's father was John Valletort, who fl. 1265-84 and held Sutton, m. Amy, dau. of Reginald Clifford (It seems as if this Reginald Clifford was b. 1257 and was associated with John Valletort. He acceded 1316 and d. bef. 1324. Reginald Clifford's father seems to be Giles Clifford, b. 1215 and d. 1276, m. Eva Alba Monasterio. Giles descended from the House of Clifford). John's Valletort's father was Ralph Valletort, who fl. 1240-56 and m. Emma, dau. of William Fitz Gerard. Ralph's father was Thomas Valletort, who fl. 1201 and held Sutton. Thomas's father was Robert Valletort, founder of the Clyst St. Lawrence/Laurence branch and fl. 1166. Robert's father was Robert Valletort who m. Alice. This Robert Valletort, who m. Alice was born abt. 1115 of Bere Ferrers, Tavistock, co. Devon, m. abt. 1135 to Alice, who was b. abt. 1118 of co. Devon and d. aft. 1167. Robert's father was Reginald Valletort II, who fl. 1121. This Reginald II was b. abt. 1085 of Bere Ferrers, Tavistock, co. Devon and d. aft. 1121. He was Baron of Trematon. Reginald's father was Reginald I, who fl. 1086 and was of co. Somerset and co. Devon. This Reginald I Valletort/Vautort was b. abt. 1060 and was Baron of Trematon Castle, co. Cornwall. He d. aft. 1086. He was from Bere Ferrers, Tavistock, co. Devon. Reginald's father was Godfrey Valletort, who fl. 1084 and died abt. 1086 of "Nether Stowe, co. Somerset"? at the Battle of Hastings. Godfrey was of Vautorte, Mayenne/Maine, France.
Godfrey's father may have been Joel Vautorte, who was b. abt. 1000 of Vautorte, Mayenne/Maine, France. He d. 1054. Thanks, again, for the information. There is not much information on the Clyst St. Lawrence/Laurence branch. Of course, corrections welcome.
