Annke (prob. WEBER) JANS, wife of Roeloffse JANSEN was a very real and fascinating New Amsterdam settler in her own right. After the death of JANSEN she m. 2) Willem BOGARDUS, 2nd Minister of the DRC in New Amsterdam.
You can read more about them in most of the early annals of New Amsterdam Colony.
I too was raised on the "Lost Inheritance" legends, sworn to by my family. They are bogus. There is NO inheritance.
Annake's Will is on file in Albany NY; she d. Jan 1662/63, Beverwyck NY.
Anneke DID leave descendants, and to date I have found NO credible link to her. Look for a copy of "Dear Cousins", or www.rocklandgenealogy.org/famorgs.html.
