Aye... the dead end at that Paul McTire is a political re-write after the fact. There were males descended from Paul, then, and now..by name, in a line that continues unbroken from the 10th century. Hugh of Rariches married a daughter of one later descended and also Paul McTire ..about the same time a Paul McTire is building Dun Creich..both ongoing in the 13th century to continue to the present via sons, brothers of that wife of Hugh of Rariches (he assuming surname Ross). ( This line and the Hugh/Rariches marriage covered by renaming the McTire daughter Margaret De Barclay..to stop Anrias and old line claims). Descent from Paul links show up in much later names in Scotland Peer lists with links and surname not possible if Paul line ended. Linked to Ross, Tain, The O'Beolean Earls, Clan(Gille)Andreas, Clan McTire, (both pre-Ross) and Ferchard: I am Rex H. McTyeire, quite alive and well..:-).. but one of literally hundreds descended from that earliest Paul.
