David, Eva Mildred Mykleby Pearson had an interesting comment in her book "They did Not Have Horns; The viking Kings of Norway,' [Norbakk Press, 1998]p. 24: "The story, as told by Snorri in Heimskringla, portrays Gunnhild as Ozur Toti’s daughter. Most sources state she is the daughter of King Gorm of Denmark. The later is probably true, but where did Snorri pick up the interesting story? Was he romanticizing? Surely, it seems, Gunnhild was regarded as having supernatural powers. Gunnhild was a very beautiful woman, shrewd and skilled in magic, friendly of speech, but full of deceit and cruelty. It is very probable that Gunnhild was sent to live with Ozur Toti to learn magic, and that he was then her foster father. We will let the readers make their own decision." Anyway, it's an interesting and possible explanation. Jim Notify Administrator about this message?
