Macias MEDELEZ in Teocaltiche, Jalisco

Took a while to get this board up, but here we are.
I am seeking information on my grandfather's families, Macias and Medelez.
My grand father was Cornelio Macias Medelez, born in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico and passed in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born about 1880-1884, passing Feb. 1952.
He was married to Adela Tellez Garcia of Juarez, daughter of Bartolo Tellez and Isabel Garcia.
His father was also a Cornelio and his mother Isabela MEDELEZ.
Evidently this is not a common name. I have met on the net some people by this name and they have Jalisco in common, though they did not know where in Jalisco.
It would appear the name has come to us from MEDEL, "ez" being added. I have heard the "ez" either means "son of" in old texts, or is the plural. Also I have heard that it was originally changed to Medeles, then Medelez.
However it came down and it's origins, I look forward to seeing others with the name in their families entering in this forum and hope that someone might be able to help me locate others of my family.
Be safe...-Michael
